I have seen some sites refer to the new model as the Nexus 7.2, and others seemingly adopting the Apple style 2G moniker.
But this has now all been cleared up with the announcement of the Nexus 7 (2012). And if you take a look now, you’ll see the Nexus 7 (2012) is now appearing on the Play site.
Well, at least it’s a clear and scalable naming convention, perhaps Google are anticipating a new model each year from here on in?
I hadn’t seen any prior speculation on using the year in the name so it’s nice to be surprised by Google.
