I had a tweet yesterday from a chap asking if I knew how he could restore root access to his Nexus 7, and keep his existing setup, after installing the latest Android upgrade.
Unfortunately I don’t think this is possible, however I came across a YouTube video from Brad over at Liliputing that explains how you can protect your root access during the upgrade process.
This won’t help the person who asked me for help, but if you install the OTA Root Keeper app from the Play market place you will be able to restore root access after the Android update.
You can view the video here:
I’m afraid I can’t offer any suggestions from my own experience as I have not rooted my Nexus 7 (yet!). As always, mess with root access at your own risk and make sure you understand the security risks before unlocking your device.
