Unfortunately their UK release date is currently listed as 13th September 2013, this is not so good especially if it is due to go on sale in the US at the end of July. I have two thoughts on this.
- A staggered international release might actually mean that Google / ASUS have learnt from the availability issues that plagued the Nexus 7 (2012) release. We might have to wait a little longer but hopefully when it does become available it will actually really be available to everyone who wants one!
- This may well be the retail release date, there is always a chance the new model will be listed on the UK Play store site sooner than that. Watch this space, we’ll be posting up as soon as we see it shipping!
The second piece of bad news is that the price seems to have gone up, and the UK GBP hike appears to be bigger than the US USD hike. Typical! The 16gb model will retail for £199 and the 32gb model for £239.
The new Nexus 7 is looking good, I wouldn’t blame you for jumping in and pre-ordering now. At least if there are supply chain issues again you’ll be first in the queue:
Let us know if you place an order!
Availability of the Nexus 7 (2013) will spread to France, Germany, Spain, Japan, South Korea, and Australia in the next few weeks.
