The ‘how to install iPlayer‘ post is by far the most visited page on this blog, I think that’s because many (if not all) of the other Nexus 7 blogs / forums are US based and aren’t quite so keen on following UK related news!
So I hope readers will be pleased to learn that the new Nexus 7 compatible app will be released “next week”. You can read more about the challenges involved in getting this up and running for us on the BBC Internet Blog.
It looks like the BBC have stuck to an Adobe powered solution, but having ditched Flash it is now powered by Adobe Air, we’re told this allowed for support of older versions of Android.
Unfortunately there is no confirmation that this includes the option to download and watch content online, a facility which iOS users can now enjoy. This was aluded to in a previous blog post so I really hope it will be there. If not, I actually think I will be dusting down my iPod Touch for future mobile BBC viewing.
