We know that a 9″ tablet is on the way, but we’re also due a new Nexus phone, most likely to be the Nexus 6.
A recent leak claims to provide the first pictures of this new phone and info on what to expect.
What can we expect?
It looks like the Nexus 6 will be a Motorola made device, which makes sense given Google’s current ownership of the company (although most of the company will be moving to Lenovo’s control). Not only is this the sixth generation Nexus phone but it is also a 6″ device which places it firmly in “phablet” territory. Whilst this might seem like a clash with the Nexus 7 it makes sense if the next Nexus tablet really is a 9″ model.
According to the leaked photos the new phone is looking very like a big version of the Moto X with a few minor positional differences and some additional Nexus branding.
- QHD resolution of 2560×1440
- 2.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805
- 3 GB of RAM
- 16 and 32 GB configurations (no microSD card)
- 13 megapixel camera on the back, capable of shooting 4K video, (2 megapixel front)
Replacement Nexus 4
If, like me, you are the owner of a Nexus 4 phone and looking to update then the Nexus 6 unfortunately doesn’t look like a direct replacement. I enjoy a smaller pocket sized phone paired up with a Nexus 7 tablet so something inbetween doesn’t really appeal right now.
