A quick search of the site and I came across an Android Apps 101 course that will be starting soon; Creative, Serious and Playful Science of Android Apps. I’m already part way through writing my first app for Android but very keen to learn as much as I can to ensure it’s written in the best way possible.
It’s also interesting to see the Nexus 7 getting a mention, as they recommend developing on a “modern Android tablet (such as the $199 Nexus 7)” . The course is run by an English chap, Lawrence Angrave, who now works at that University of Illinois
The course description:
This course introduces the fundamental computer science principles that power today’s apps. You will also learn to create your own Android app using Java and standard software development tools.
I’ve signed up and hope I have the time to see it though inbetween family and work life, I hope so becuase this looks like a fantastic opportunity to get a good grounding in the basics and improve my overall understanding of the Android API.
If anyone else is doing the course then please get in touch, if any UK peeps are participating I’d love to start a Nexus 7 development area in the forum to swap notes.
