I was absolutely thrilled to receive my 16GB Nexus 7 yesterday.
After the struggle to get into the box I was greater by a beautiful piece of kit.
Although I am generally happy with the product, I am finding annoyances through my using it.
BBC iPlayer, ITV player & TVCatchup need Flash – see topic in Nexus 7 Quick Question forum (only partial fix though).
Post your Annoyances here:
The iPlayer compatibility prob is a shambles imo. Given that the Play store is also borffed for the UK buyers we needed to have our beloved beeb up and running out of the box.
Other grumbles? I’m trying hard to think of something but have yet to hit any real snags. I suppose a couple of times whilst out and about I wished I had 3G, but in fairness we knew that limitation when we bought it. And I suppose I’ve noticed poor app compatibility on occasion.
But ya know I’m pretty happy – gg Google / ASUS.
For me the biggest draw back is memory expansion, with no 3G mobile connectivity I want to be able to store a load of stuff offline. On the bright side, 16gb is about the min I can live with.
Storage is an issue but you can get around it with an external device (I use a 128Gb USB stick) and a converter from micro usb to female usb (available cheaply on ebay – see http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-2-0-FEMALE-TO-MICRO-USB-MALE-DATA-ADAPTER-CABLE-FOR-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S-III-S3-/380445076317?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccesories_MobilePhoneDataCables_JN&hash=item58944b2b5d) although cloud storage can be utilised if you’re in a wifi area.
I’ve had my Nexus 7 two weeks now and honestly, I don’t have any real problems with it at all. Very quick, easy to find fixes (if needed) on the net, and I think any update should incorportate flash player and maybe a voice recording facility (although you can download these).
Overall, a really good investment and I am impressed. I need to find the best screen protector now without paying the earth…….
What’s with the lack of screen rotation, big mistake on Googles part. Such a basic thing to get wrong. At least there are alternative launchers that can get round such flaws.
Not getting connected two rooms away in my conservatory but laptop seems OK. Maybe a limitation on the Nexus?. My broadband speed is not great.
