Not experienced much with smartphones but is there any advice for Settings to control mobile data as just bought one of the pay monthly VirginMobile SIMs you mentioned?.
Launching Play Store which starts Google Play I have updated Settings to Auto-update apps and Update over Wi_fi only.
Android 4.2 has some good monitoring tools in it by default so you can watch carefully how much you are using. Settings -> Data usage
Note: your phone’s opinion of data use and your mobile operator’s may differ!
You can switch data on and off, and set a limit.
My data usage since getting the Nexus 4:
And this is me making no effort to conserve usage (im on an unlimited deal) so actually it makes me think I could live with a 500mb or 1gb limit if I didn’t stream Google Music or auto upload photos to Dropbox.
My amber warning line is 3.2GB and about 22MB used. I use Wi-Fi nearly all the time unless out. I have unlimited deal I think but VirginMobile online account has £11 charge since first day. As I don’t have a bill yet they can’t tell me what it is!.
The Virgin Sim only deals are looking competitive right now, £12 for unlimited data. I may well be switching to them as the Mrs is on Virgin too.
