Had to phone Google Support today as Nexus 4 dead as a dodo. Eventually told to keep pressing power button and phone came to life but had to power down as couldn’t make phone calls or text. Powered up all OK.
Must admit not keen on power button and why have the two volume buttons on the other side of the phone nearly at same height?. At first I kept pressing the volume button by mistake when switching the phone off. Also, the socket for power is the opposite of the Nexus 7.
The phone is very fast.January 28, 2013 at 1:28 pm #25443
It’s very very fast. Very impressed by the speed, it handles everything I throw at it and I’ve never witnessed a stutter. My Nexus 7 feels sluggish after using it tbh.
So is your Nexus 4 all back to normal now?February 4, 2013 at 7:05 pm #25514
Just noticed your reply. Phone dead again this morning. It was fully charged last night but after I got the phone going again there was only 24% charge left. I’ve taken off the holder the phone was in since I got it to see if its ok.
Typing text on the phone is 100% better than on the Nexus 7.
Tried entering these comments on the Nexus 4 but the text is LARGE then small and cannot see any SUBMIT button.February 5, 2013 at 2:42 pm #25540
Yes, I have the same problem with the forum text box, I’ll take a look at it. It should just be a case of making it a little wider.
I did find that it worked fine in landscape mode but the keyboard takes up most of the screen so was still not easy to use.
I have a vested interest in getting it looking right so will keep on it. The other option is to use Tapatalk but it’s not free.February 6, 2013 at 9:26 pm #25547February 9, 2013 at 6:32 pm #25561
Downloaded Tapatalk but can’t see any attraction. Would be better if posts showed Latest date rather than first date posted?.February 14, 2013 at 4:18 pm #25631
That’s four times its went dead and used most of the battery overnight. Just hold in power button until it restarts and runs as normal. I do have automatic updating of apps using wi-fi. Anyone else had this ‘problem’?.
Going to Spain next week but if happens again I will contact Google when I return.February 16, 2013 at 9:01 pm #25646
No more problems but others seem to have similar problem.
Will the new release 4.2.2 fix it?February 20, 2013 at 1:03 pm #25668
Thanks for the updates, now that you mention it, I had one instance of my Nexus 4 becoming unresponsive and not switching on. I plugged into charger and waited for a bit and then a long press on the power switch got me in again. Was a worrying couple of hours ;-)
It was all very strange becuase I had been using it on the train home and there was a reasonable amount of power left. And then about 2hrs later… no response, wouldn’t switch on.
So far this was a one off for me.March 8, 2013 at 7:53 am #25782
Now 7 times. Seems to happen overnight and drains the battery down to 20 odd percent. Any ideas?.March 12, 2013 at 11:00 am #25832
Contacted Google last Friday night. New replacement phone arrived today. To return old one.

Seems there are quite a few battery problems with phones and tablets. Old phone been picked up and heading to LG in Poland.April 21, 2013 at 5:54 pm #26241
Just to get a new post.
No battery problems with replacement. Charges really quick compared to Nexus 7 which seems to take forever.
