Quick heads up. Been wanting the official earphones and bumper for a while. The ‘phones are out off stock so I though I’d just get the bumper for now – the phone being slippier than a slippy thing. Would have swallowed the £15.99 till I got to shippping – another £7 or £8. No thanks.
Saw this on Amazon:
and thought “got to be a rip off”, but a 1/3 of the cost, gotta be worth a punt. Well, it came today, and comparing the pack with Google’s images, it looks genuine! Fits great and I’m hoping it will stop the phone slipping around.
Thanks Michael. That is indeed a good spot so cheers for posting it up here.
Like you say, the Nexus 4 is notoriously slippy so one of these sounds like a sound investment.
That said, I’ve always liked keeping my products naked (eek!) but I suspect it is just a matter of time before it goes splat.
That particular bumper is out of stock at the moment but I’m sure it will be back online sooner or later if it’s sold out once already. I guess it’s also worth having a look through Amazon for alternative sellers in their market place.
Quick update. OK, it might have been the official bumper, at a third of the GP cost, but it’s, err…crap.
A section of moulding round the USB socket has split, leading to the whole thing becoming slightly loose on the phone, resulting in it misaligning and interfering with the side buttons. And this is just from it being sat in my pocket.
The original seller has gone and for under a tenner and free delivery I can’t be arsed. I’m just glad I didn’t pay Google Play £24 for one.
Now looking for a case, or at least, front and rear protectors.
Update 2. Found reports of exact same issue with the OEM bumper. One to avoid then.
