My Nexus 7 will not connect to my 2 pc’s at home running windows xp.
one pc just makes repeated beeps like its connecting then disconnecting, the other recognises the device but only gives me 2 options, take no action or transfere media files, if i click transfere nothing happens, no icon in “my computer” to access the device.
Ive checked the usb ports and other things work fine, and ive taken the tablet to work and plugged it in and its recognised straight away, so i have to take files to work on a usb stick and copy them on there.
If you can’t get it connected, Airdroid might be a good way to get access to the tablet’s drive.
But it should work, like you say, XP should recognise it and an icon should pop up in My Computer.
You could try the following, in Settings tap Storage, then tap the three dots to get the menu and then USB computer connection.
The setting should be MTP, sometimes changing from MTP to PTP and back can help it get recognised by the PC.
And the one that got me, make sure you unlock the home screen before connecting. When locked it won’t be recognised. That one had me pulling my remaining hair out.
