For the last couple of months mg Nexus 7 2013 tab!et refuse to remember my location. I live on a boat and move around so my location changes every few days. If I leave the tab let in the open so the GPS can see it will locate me correctly with a blue spot. Turn it on standby and then back on, it will go straight to the correct location and after about 15 seconds will zoom off across the country to where we were a a few weeks ago. But it is not consistent. It always zooms off but sometimes goes to where we were 2 weeks ago sometimes where we were 3 weeks ago but has now settled on where we were a month ago.
I’ve deleted the cache and data on the maps app but to no avail.
When an app asks for the location it will kick off a GPS location request that can take some time to return the correct location. In the meantime it may well return an old location. That said, I would expect it to catch up to the right place sooner or later. It can take a few minutes but it normally gets there. Make sure your Nexus is outside and has a clear view of the sky so that it gets a good GPS signal.
I don’t know of any reason why else it could be failing. It sounds like the GPS is working at some level if it is correctly identifying your location (albeit where you were, not where you are).
