Tagged: nexus 4 mobile signal
So I got my nexus 4 about a month ago and was well chuffed with it.
I have noticed a couple of issues with the network being displayed/picked up though and wondered if others had experienced it.
At work my phone often goes in and out of range as I go up and down stairs and in and out of rooms. I am finding that when I come back in range (or to areas I know I get signal) my phone fails to pick up signal. I have to turn airline mode on and then off to get it to regain signal.
Or, it will display 00000 (5 zeros) as the network, which is fixed the same way.
Anyone else experience this at all? The most annoying thing is because the phone thinks it is out of range, I miss important calls and texts etc
Interesting comment which does spark my curiosity as yes I do get variable reported signal strength around the house. To be clear, I’m talking about mobile network reception here, WiFi works perfectly.
In my case I put it down to poor signal quality from the network rather than a fault with the phone. As soon as I get to work I get a strong signal and excellent Internet speeds (who needs 4G, seriously, what’s the point, I can stream great looking iPlayer TV over HSDPA so why would I need it to be any faster?!). I also get decent reception on the train, I can generally watch a streamed TV program over the 1/2 hr journey with a couple of breaks as we descend into the embankments and out the other side!
But yeah, around the house it comes and goes. I don’t really notice a pattern ie it’s not like it always works in the living room but not the kitchen, it just seems to be pot luck! But like I said, I blame my operator!
I’ll try switching the radio on and off like you and see if that helps establish a connection, I will also be moving to a different supplier as soon as my current contract expires in the summer (most likely I’ll move from Three to GiffGaff but nothing is set in stone!).
Interested to hear what other people’s experiences are…
it just seems odd about it not picking signal up again – when I manually tell it to pick it up, it’ll come back good and strong :S odd!
