So, it seems to be getting good reviews, does this justify the price? £599 for a phone seems like a hell of a lot of money and that’s just the base price. It’s a long way from what I paid for my Nexus 4 and even further from my Chinese replacement!
But I guess Google want this phone to be seen on a par as Apple and for that they had to match the price. At least to begin with. They didn’t want to be seen as the cheap alternative.
They are pitching the Pixel as a leader and they must be thanking their lucky start Samsung have taken such a big hit to their reputation. This is Google’s best chance to level up and compete with Apple.
And just think, if they get this right, how powerful will Android be…
So, whilst the Pixel is too much for me, I think they got the price strategy spot on.
£819 for the full on 128gb 5.5″ screen size model.
And you only get two years of OS support (3 of security updates). I am hoping they drop the price after the initial hype dies down. I would like one, it’s a great phone :D
They had to match the Apple pricing. Anything less sends out the message that you don’t think you can compete with the iPhone. Well done Google for having the balls and looking at the reviews they seemed to have pulled it off. The Samsung demise is fantastic news for the Pixel if not the Android ecosystem as a whole.
