The Nexus 7 may have it’s faults, but as yet Google haven’t followed Apple’s disreputable lead…
Let alone the fact that makers are supposed to be moving to a common connector socket so as to avoid charger mountains in landfill. Whilst I’d question anything the Mail says, I do loathe Apple so.
I’ve heard this mentioned before, although commentators typically say 3rd party suppliers will eventually find a way round this kind of protection and you’ll eventually see knock off chargers dripping out onto ebay.
But yes, this is one of many reasons why the closed Apple set up turns me right off. But interestingly this is precisely why others like Apple, they love that there are very specific accessories to buy and they know that they will work and that the software (in theory) plays nicely with each other and all that.
Not for me.
It almost seems like every day some internet “celebrity” is announcing their switch from Apple to Android on their blog. And where the geeks lead, the rest will follow ;-)
