Tired of waiting? Try this:
1. Charge your Nexus 7 and leave the USB cord in
2. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All
3. Find Google Services Framework.
4. Tap on Force Stop.
5. Select Clear Data.
6. Head back to the Nexus 7’s Settings, go to About, and check for a System Update. (Note the date will be in the 60’s its okay)
Repeat steps until it works, might take a few goes.
I did this to get 4.1.2 and it worked no probs and it should work for 4.2. Your mileage may vary, attempt at own risk and all that.
I had a few funnies on a couple of apps but nothing a quick cache clear didn’t fix.November 14, 2012 at 3:41 pm #13332
Yep, did this for the 4.1.2 update. Had to repeat it loads of times (somewhere between 7 and a thousand) but it worked eventually.November 14, 2012 at 9:36 pm #13508
Worked on the first try for me, thanks for the tip…November 14, 2012 at 9:47 pm #13509

Hmm we more or less know what the 4.2 update consists of…can’t believe anyone can be that desperate to pfaff about with their bits when its gonna be released to N7 owners in a mo anyway!November 15, 2012 at 10:40 pm #14084

Still waiting for my update… looks like I’m going to have to force… maybe another day…. !November 16, 2012 at 11:55 am #14407
This worked for me on the first attempt, thanks.November 16, 2012 at 12:27 pm #14422
Took me about 10 attempts. Don’t know if this is coincidence, but I wasn’t using it plugged in for the first 8 times. The 2nd time after I tried it plugged in, it worked.
What are peoples’ thoughts so far? Sadly one of my favourite apps Screen Filter has stopped working, but the dev appears to be looking at that. There appear to be a few more animations and minor tweaks, but I’m a little disappointed with the implementation of the multiple account setup.
I was hoping it would work like it does on Xbox, where you can share your applications with other users, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. You can set up another account on the device logging into the same google account, but from reading a few other forums, it seems like you’d need to download the application again, therefore having it take up twice the amount of space on the device.November 16, 2012 at 7:58 pm #14623

Just got mine pushed out, yay!November 17, 2012 at 3:40 pm #15138
My Nexus has updated but it has caused my Norton Antivirus to stop working. Checked the Norton discussion board to find Norton is aware of it and are hopefully working on a fix. As a sort of work round I have re-installed my original version of Norton Antivirus which is working OK. If I add the last Norton update it stops working.
The only other problem I had after the update was the screen darkened and almost immediately shut down so I had to press the start button to get the screen to start again. Have reset the time before the screen shuts down to 30 mins. That seems to have fixed the problem.
Have not tried all my apps yet as the computer only updated last night so don’t know if their are any more glitches. JoeNovember 17, 2012 at 5:59 pm #15199
