Hi, I am a newcomer in the gadget world. I just got my Nexus 7 3G over the weekend. I have since set it up and I likewhat I see. I am like a kid walks in a candy shop. If I am honest, I have never owned a gadget. You have to see my mobile phone. It’s an old Nokia, which is foldable and turns 7 this summer. I don’t know what App is. I have never downloaded an app in my life. Compare to you guys, I may sound very “antique” and am a hard work. But my new friend—Nexus has since injected some new energy in me. I am so eager to be friended with it and would like to know it and understand it inside out. However, before I started to explore this brand new gadget, I would like to know how to treat it properly. May I ask what is the best case for it? I have seen people selling Nexus case on Ebay and Amazon, some have on/off magnet opening. Will the magnet cause damage to the Navigation system? Also, are there any useful Apps I needed to download on to my Nexus to get it going? Thank you so much for your help.
If your Nexus doesn’t have a camera app installed I’d download one from Google Play. There is one available that doesn’t require plenty of intrusive permissions…
and I’d reccomend AVG as well
You may also want to look for a document or office package. They are available free. I’m using Kingsoft office but would hesitate in reccomending it as it is too unreliable.
Welcome to the forum, this forum tends to be less technical and more helpful than some of the other techie sites out there so you’re in the right place!
My app list is up on this page. The page was really supposed to be the kind of apps a new comer might be interested in installing rather than anything exhaustive.
Accessories, we have some pages over here. But mostly it’s based on Amazon’s recommendations (which are normally pretty good tbh).
I bought a cheap soft case to stuff my N7 into whilst in the bag, and my Mrs kindly bought me a hard case for Christmas. The latter has the magnetic on / off feature. No, it won’t cause any probs with navigation.
Thank you very much, Molepox and Jez. I have just had a look of the links you guys posted here. It’s eye-opening! Yes, I certainly need to download an app for my camera. The anti-virus app is also on top of my downloading list. I bought a micro USB on-the-go cable from Amazon. I guess I also need the Media Importer app. I like Jez’s soft case. But I probably will get a purple one. Thanks again for both of your time and helpful advice.
Good stuff, feel free to post up feedback on what you get when it arrives :)
