When trying to copy music files (MP3 for example) to my Nexus 5 from Windows 8.1 I keep getting the message “”your device might not be able to play or view this file”” -I can tick the box to skip for that file copy, but is there a way to suppress Windows from this erroneous message permanently?
Yeah, I remember getting that message. To be honest I think I just ignored it as I copied music over in occasional batches.
These days I sync all my music with Google Play Music, give it a look if you aren’t using it. Just install the client app on your PC and point it at your music folder. All you music then becomes available on your phone without having to worry about syncing at all.
I think the limit is 20,000 tracks but that’s more than most people’s (legal) music collections so should be OK.
Your music will be streamed by default but there is a little “pin” icon which you can press when connected to a wifi network, this will download and store all your tracks for when you are roaming around. I never actually use that because the Google app is actually pretty good at caching the music you are listening to at the moment without you having to think about it.
