Nearly all the books I have purchased (albeit using my credit) have nowhere near the number of pages stated in Google Play but all appear to have downloaded correctly with all chapters and normal closing credits at the end of the book. Some examples Dean Koontz – Odd Apocalypse on my download has 321 pages but Google Play says 400 pages and a cheap book for hols, Stephen Leather – Hard Landing on my download has 68 pages but Google Play says 480 pages. I already got a refund on a John Connolly book.
Anyone else purchased books from Google Play with different pages downloaded?.
I have logged with Google but this has put me off buying anything at the moment.
I’ve not downloaded anything from Google books yet. Everything I’ve been interested in is cheaper in the kindle store.
Have you heard anything back from Google yet?
No feedback on the number of pages but they refunded the Dean Kontz book that I requested so will leave it at that.I will just use the £15 credit to buy some lower priced books. I’m a novice on ebooks so did not know I could get Kindle books for Nexus 7.
Yep, the kindle app is free and there are some really good books from little known authors for fantastic prices.
… And well known authors of course :)
Must admit I went straight to Kindle too. Unfortunately the poor UK support for Play has turned me off from the start. I will definitely check it out again, I’m most interested in the movie / TV content especially as you can download for later viewing but current content is rubbish. The books look a little better.
Back to the original question, could it be something to do with the electronic format having more text per page? Just a thought.
I’m starting to read work docs on my daily commute and must say I am liking the Nexus as an ereader – it’s not what I bought it for so an excellent bonus!
Read my first book on Nexus 7 and converted now.
Electronic format had five screens for same page number so now happy getting a full book downloaded.
