Have just bought a Nexus 7. How do I know when the battery needs charging and how long should I charge it for ? How will I know when it is fully charged.
If its any help at all a great little widget for your nexus desk top including clock 5 day weather for your area and battery use indicator can be found here..Its also very accurate!
It’s pretty good at telling you when its running low, you get a big warning when it hits 15% and as it approaches the end it will urge you to plug it in!
Charging? Lots of people have different oppinions on this… charge it fully, drain it fully, some say don’t use it plugged it and all that.
I’m not sure how helpful that is, personally I just pop it on to charge as and when I’m near a charger. A full charger takes a few hours – not that I’ve ever timed it. It’s not too long, and even quick emergency charges seem to keep me going.
Batter life seems pretty good to me.
One thing a lot of people don’t know is that it can take a much longer time to charge if it’s plugged into a computer’s USB port rather than through the mains charger. Rough estimates seem to suggest that mine charges at a (very approximate) rate of 1% per minute.
…and also not all chargers are equal, you might find it charges slow if you use a charger from your phone or something else.
Charging Nexus 7 battery for about 3 hours brings it up from 20% or so to 100% charged.
I have a question. Could someone please tell me the TYPE of battery the Nexus 7 uses? That is, is it a nickel hydrogen battery, a lithium sulphur battery or what?
From the ASUS page:
9.5 hours, 4325mAh,*2
