I hear that Android 4.2 has much better security that older versions. What are your thoughts on whether we need additional anti virus software for my Nexus 10 and what would you recommend I install?
Yes, I think there are some changes in 4.2 to improve security but I’m not too sure what they are!
There are a whole range of antivirus products that you can install on your Nexus 10 tablet, I use the free Zoner Antivirus app on mine but there are a whole load of them out there, such as AVG and the usual big brand AV companies.
Do you need them? My view is that if you pay attention to what you are installing then you don’t have to, but if you are less cautious and don’t take the time to understand permissions then you’ll want something to watch your back.
The real risk is if you start installing APK files downloaded from the net, or less well known app stores. Sometimes you get dodgy versions of well known apps. On the plus side at least on your tablet an app can’t start sending our premium rate SMS messages behind your back!
