As Jez discussed on his blog post, I also got some accessories for my Nexus 7 for Christmas.
Monster Bass Mini Speaker
Really impressed by this. The Nexus 7 speaker is not very powerful but this little bit of kit really booms out the music for its small size. I am considering getting another as several can all be connected at the same time.
Micro USB Host Mode On The Go OTG Cable for Nexus 7
This little piece of kit allows me to no longer worry about storage space on my nexus. I just put whatever content I wish on to a memory stick and its available with me at any time I want it. Also used it to connect a mouse which I did not get on with (prefer to use a stylus).
MOFRED® 6 Pack Screen Protector Value Pack For Nexus 7 Tablet
Not got round to fitting one of these as yet but looking forward to getting one fitted. I keep my nexus in a case and would like to ensure the screen stays as protected as the rest of the case.
Any one else get any good accessories?December 31, 2012 at 9:08 pm #24888
Yeah the Nexus 7 speakers aren’t great are they! I use headphones or Bluetooth the sound over to my HiFi. Are these the speakers? They get excellent reviews on Amazon too.

Yeah they are the ones!January 2, 2013 at 10:22 am #24903
Interesting to read about your OTG. Did it work without having to download and pay for Nexus Media Importer? And could you import and export data to your memory stick?January 2, 2013 at 10:48 am #24905
Hi all. First post :-)
Loving my new N7. Got the Poetic slimline case, which works well.
and the Jawbone Jambox bluetooth speaker.
It’s expensive, but I got the N7 to take camping in place of the laptop, so the portable aspect scored for me. Despite the webpage, Currys have the latest JBE03aUK version on their shelves and with a £10 in-store voucher I got from them after I bought my Nexus there, it got it down to £89.99. I’ve seen it up to £149.99 elsewhere.
First impressions – not bad, much depends on the material so can need volume/equaliser tweaking for music. Sounds brilliant on the Stones “Grrr”, but their early stuff in stereo had wide separation. It’s really for films so spoken word mainly.
If the Play Store had had the dock in, it would have been in Santa’s sack for sure. As it is I’m monitoring B&H in NYC for stock.
My daughter lives in NYC so if I get one, I’ll send it to her and she can pop it in a jiffy bag for not much postage. Be handy for movies with the Jambox behind :-)
Happy Nexus New Year all :-)January 2, 2013 at 10:50 am #24906
Oops – something wrong with the links there:-(
Nexus official dockJanuary 2, 2013 at 1:20 pm #24941
Thanks for sharing that Michael. Yep dock availability has been a contentious issue – crazy that they aren’t selling them yet… do they want to make money from us?
My bro lives in NYC too, coming back at the end of the month. Could be an opportunity to get one!January 2, 2013 at 2:38 pm #24942
Hi Molepox. I use the media importer. I have though read on a XDA Developer site that some people have found how to unmount the memory stick and have games saved to the stick and play them from there. Instructions are hereJanuary 2, 2013 at 3:18 pm #24943
Jez, I’m monitoring B&H and have a stock alert with them. If they do get stock in I’ll post here.January 3, 2013 at 9:48 am #24969
I don’t want to root or start grubbing around in my N7 software, I only want to back-up my book being written (20 pages so far; an apocalypic, near-future, hard SF tale; no zombies required! As it’s my first I’ll freepub it) to a memory stick rather than email it to myself or use the cloud services. I want the flexibilty and portabilty of a physical device.January 4, 2013 at 3:26 pm #25013
Not specifically tablet related but I got a new pair of Beats headphones. I can confirm they sound great with Google music!March 26, 2013 at 10:34 pm #26062
I have just bought a rokono speaker for my n7. For it’s size it’s much better than the on board speaker and now comes with quite a long connection cable JoeApril 11, 2013 at 12:47 pm #26206
