One of the great things about owning a Nexus branded device is being front of the queue when it comes to getting the latest Android updates.
And right now Nexus 7 owners seem to be getting prime treatment. You should expect to see your tablet receive an update to 4.1.2 in the coming days (deployment is likely to be staggered).
What’s in Android 4.1.2?
You can expect the following:
- Bug fixes
- Performance tweaks
- And for nexus tablet owners, landscape home screens!
The latter is a nice little bonus tweak and shows that someone at Google must be listening to us!
So by all accounts this is a minor update with Google sharing little information about changes other than the notes in the above screenshot. No sign of an update appearing on my tablet, how about you?
Version 4.2 Next?
And if this wets your appetite for more OS updates, then it’s looking more and more likely that Android 4.2 will be rolled out to Nexus owners sooner rather than later, possibly sometime in October.
Android Authority have already spotted 4.2 showing up in the server logs against a variety of devices. Google have a history of testing new updates on a range of tablets and phones before release, so this is a strong sign that we could be in for another update treat soon.
